Tokushi drew the pictures for a book entitled Hana no Saijiki (i.e., Almanac of Flower Seasonal Words). Published in 1961, it included the thirty woodblock-printed pictures of flowers shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Tokushi drew the shapes of his flower subjects accurately but he simplified their colors using only a single color for all plant parts. This book was written for haiku poets who wished to suggest a certain season by including the name of a flower associated with it.
